Temporary Graduate Visa – SC 485 Visa
International students who have finished two years of education in Australia are eligible for the Temporary Graduate subclass 485 visa, which is a work visa.
To be eligible for this visa, Applicant must
- Be under 50 years of age.
- Have held a student visa in the last 6 months.
- Have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the Skill Occupation List (Note: this is not required for applications lodged between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023).
- Have applied for a skills assessment in your nominated occupation on Skill occupation List (Note: this is not required for applications lodged between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023)
- Provide evidence of adequate health insurance for all applicants when you apply
- Provide evidence you have applied for an AFP check when you apply.
- Provide evidence of the required level of English with the application.
- Main holder of the student visa.
- Held adequate health insurance.
- Be of good character.
The applicant must meet Australian Study requirement which is as follow: –
- To be eligible for the Australian Study Requirement, the applicant must meet this if you are awarded at least one degree, diploma, or trade qualification.
- Held an Australian visa that allowed you to study.
- successfully completed all course requirements.
- Course must be CRICOS registered course.
- Completed your course in Australia in not less than 16 calendar months and as a result of at least two academic years (92) weeks of study.
The 485 visa’s duration will depend on your specific situation.
Gradate Work stream visas are valid for 18 months (about 1.5 years) starting on the date the application was approved.
Post Graduate Work Stream depends on which qualification has been completed in Australia as follows:
- 2 years: completion of Bachelor’s Degree, Bachelor with Honors, Master by Coursework or Master (Extended).
- 3 years: Masters by Research.
- 4 years: Doctorate.
From November 16, 2019, International graduates who studied at a regional institute are eligible for longer SC485 visa. This extended time will be given on the basis of the postcode in which the student has completed their studies.
