The second stage of the skilled regional visa is subclass 887, which grants permanent residence to the applicant who currently have a skilled regional provisional visa, including:

Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 491.

To be eligible for this visa, the applicant must

1. Hold an eligible visa or.
2. Have held an eligible visa that expired outside Australia during the concession period.
3. Have lived for at least 2 years and worked full time for at least 1 year in a specified regional area, unless COVID-19 concessions apply
4. Have complied with the conditions of the eligible visa you hold or have held.
5. Meet health requirements.
6. Meet character requirements.
7. Sign the Australian value statement.

If granted the applicant can

1. Stay in Australia permanently.
2. Work and study anywhere in Australia.
3. Enroll in Medicare- Australia’s public health care scheme.
4. Sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence.
5. Apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
6. Travel to and from Australia for 5 years.

The main criteria for this visa are as follows

Residence in a Regional Area

ou have spent the last two years in Australia on a temporary skilled visa. If sponsored by a State or Territory Government, you must have resided in a regional or low population growth area of Australia at that time. If sponsored by an Australian relative, you must have done so in a Designated Area.

Work Experience

You have worked in Australia for at least 12 months; this experience need not have been in a skilled field, but it must have been full-time (at least 35 hours per week) and in a regional location.

Duration and Conditions

This gives rise to the granting of a permanent visa with full rights to work and study in Australia. Additionally, the travel facility is valid for five years.
